How to book a hunting or fishing trip with Ed Stratton’s Alaska Big Game Guides
Email Ed directly or use our ‘contact us’ form to tell us when you would like to arrive, how many of you would be coming, and what you intend to hunt (moose or moose and bear), and if you want to fish.
Alaska Big Game Guides (Ed Stratton) will respond personally to any questions, let you know if the dates are available, and give you a price. A 50% deposit is required to hold your dates. To ensure you get the dates you want, it’s good to book about six months prior to your intended arrival.
Make sure you purchase a hunting (and if necessary) a fishing license
Book a plane ticket to Anchorage, either spending the night there or going directly to Lake Hood Seaplane Base, which is located just 3-4 miles from downtown Anchorage. Remember to check with your airlines or travel agent about the logistics of bringing hunting equipment on a plane. Also be sure to bring supplies you’ll need that are not supplied by ABGG (the big two are alcohol and tobacco products).
From Lake Hood you will charter a flight to the hunting grounds where the Alaska Big Game Guides cabins are located. Ed will give you detailed instructions how to get there by air, and note that it is sometimes possible to get to the cabins by ground transport, but it takes longer.
Ed Stratton will pick you up with a four wheel vehicle, to deliver you and your gear to your cabin.
Ed has been at this a long time. when you get your moose, all dressing/butchering/shipping will be handled professionally and efficiently. If you do not want the meat shipped back, it will be donated locally.
Returning home involves the same steps, in reverse, but on this flight home you’ll have a lot new to talk about. Or, you might sleep almost the entire trip.
